“The Genius Thing That We Did Was We Never Gave Up”

This quote lives rent free in my head! I remember when I first saw this interview with Jay resurface across instagram, it was definitely a "wow" moment for me, delivered in the most simplistic way. (side bar: i've come to realistic simplistic but yet impactful delivery is a form of genius in itself!)

One of the reasons it always comes to mind for me, to be honest, is because life be LIFING yall! I too, get exhausted at times.  I wake up everyday (well most days) with the best intention.  I also create a to-do list (most days).  I've also been super intentional as of lately in regards to productivity and making sure when I'm in work-mode, i'm operating at my highest extent possible, in order to make progress.

"What does this look like you ask?" well for me at least, this looks like, restructuring my meetings, so that we're spending time discussing updates and action items, versus over-talking.  This looks like less over-thinking and more doing!  This also comes in the form of being more experimental so that we create room for innovation and new learnings! There are plenty more, but this is just some immediate things I've focused on, when it comes to increasing productivity.

But with this all, there are days that I wake up, with the feeling that I'm not doing enough.  OR with the feeling that results aren't coming fast enough, and then I'm reminded of this quote.  It reminds me that with all things, it takes time.  Creating legacy is not an overnight process.  It's a process that you stay committed to for a very long time, and one day you look back and you say "wow". (or someone else has to say it for you because even after all you have done, and accomplished, it's still hard to give yourself credit.. but this is a blog for another day).

As I work through this new phase of my life, with new goals set, I am reminded of this quote, it's one of those things that gets me through and keeps me motivated.  It's a reminder for me of the beauty in the process. It's a reminder of how I even got to where I am in life today! By never giving up, by being committed to process in spite of doubts (ers) and/or failures! It's a reminder to keep pushing, and finding that strength, hope and peace in the journey, when the process feels like it is taking forever.  It's also, and most importantly,  a reminder to trust the path God has laid out for me.

Sooo, I say all this to say, I know it gets tough, I know its hard, i know sometimes you don't see the light at the end of the tunnel, but I would like for you to keep pushing, and stay committed to your dream, because your genius relies on you NEVER GIVING UP!

Love yall,

Shari B
